During the summer to take a trip into the desert would be foolish and considered close to a suicide attempt or tired of life in general. Not in the winter time where the temperature is moderate and probably and most likely match a summer day in Europe! Here, we cover our self in protective clothing against the “cold” and also against the sand while quad biking in the dunes near Hatta Fort.

P and me we took the beast on its horn, better on its handle, a 500ccm rocket on 4 x 4 wheels to bash the Red Hill and beyond. Digging the back wheels into the sand on a steep hill almost ended my experience but in the end we managed the stranded beast to get on its four wheels again to explore more sand dunes.

Not every day Chefs like Pastry Chefs and Bakers are able to get together on one table end enjoy some hours enjoying food we do normally serve on a daily base to our guests. I would almost comment it is absolutely rare that we have some time to share news amongst us rare breed, out of the whites on a table and have a jolly good time. 23 of us had to tell our bosses that it is now our time to be served and devour a steak and splash it down with beers, no, we are beer guys, simple and a uncomplicated union of “Sugarheads”.

“Erschti Auguscht” referred by the Swiss as the National Day, is celebrated today with an in surge of Nationalism and Patriotism alike especially those Swiss who live abroad like myself. During the entire year one has not much of any Swiss connection but during the National Day the 1.August is almost in ones DNA like Rivella, Cervelat and Buurli.
I take this opportunity to wish all Swiss, abroad and at home a very happy Swiss National Day

The flag of The International Committee of Red Cross is based upon the National Flag of Switzerland, the home of the founder, and country were the Head Quarters is located, in Geneva.
On the 24th of June,1859, The Swiss businessman, HENRY DUNANT witnessed the Battle of SOLFERINO. He was so appalled by the carnage, and the fact that the 40,000 wounded were left on the field to die, that offered to nurse th wounded giving them what aid and comfort He could. He later campaigned to have some form of humanitarian organization formed that would give aid to the needy where, when and as required. In 1862 He wrote a book about His experiences, “A Memory of Solifino”. The profits from the sales were used to create the precursor to the modern “Red Cross” Organization. It took as It’s emblem Switzerland’s flag of a white cross on a red background, and reversed the colors so that no other country, nation or empire could ever mistake their workers for soldiers on a battlefield. This has since become the internationally recognized symbol of the Medial and Nursing arms of the Military and their Civilian counterparts.
