Big Update April 2010:

Now that I have left Dubai and the Middle East for my new home, Bangkok in Thailand I thought I have to get this space updated.

I work for a major hotel company here in Bangkok and live in the same hotel, all with its convenience and security.

A Swiss in Bliss amongst Food!

As long as I can remember I love it to be behind a camera and capture images. Too long I am working in the food industry for not combining my love of photography and food; SugarHead was born!

Q: From where you from and where do you live now?
A: I was born in Switzerland, that makes me a Swiss from Sweet-zerland but also own a French and an Australian Passport. I live currently in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates
Q: What brought you to Dubai?
A: An airplane!
Q: What is your background; where else have you resided?
A: I made my studies in Switzerland, wanted to become a graphic designer, photographer, gold smith and else but I loved always cooking at home. Then my parents advised me to take up a solid profession, a pastry cook!? So I went, checked it out and loved it! As soon I completed my three year apprentice ship I signed up for a job in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Against the will of my parents! Since then I worked and lived in Jeddah, Oslo, Dubai, Sydney, Singapore, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Cairo and again, in Dubai. Currently I am the Resort Executive Pastry Chef for Madinat Jumeirah, taking care of three hotels and a large convention center.
Q: Why SugarHead?
A: My boss (I work now with him in my third property) calls me SugarHead and that stuck over the years. For years I followed some super food bloggers from around the world like, “My Cooking Hut”, “Chubby Hubby” from Singapore and “Stone Soup” from Sydney but there was nothing like that from the Middle East. After some research I started cold turkey; signed up for a domain and host, designed the theme SugarHead and combined my hobby, photography with my job and passion for travel and food.

A: Passion fruit curd, Haagen Daz Custard Pudding Ice Cream, Nigombo Dark Chocolate, Yellow Raspberries, Green Tea, Wasanboon Sugar, Sasaichi Sake, O Toro Sashimi, Kobe Beef, Slow cooked lamb shoulder, Masaman, Beef Randang, Fois Gras, Spinach, Fennel, Rivella, Pocari Sweat, 100Plus, Nespresso, Chilean Sea bass, Pumpkin and…Natto! I know, some weird combination

A: Tetsuya in Sydney, More Café in Marooj, Dubai, Chesa in Bangkok, Esenzza in Maranouchi, Tokyo, Bangkok Jam in Kuala Lumpur, St. Pierre in Singapore, Quattro in Dubai.
