anniversary1

SugarHead the Blog is today 2 years young, 2 years of blogging, 300th post today! Time is just flying. Just one year ago I was amazed how many people I got to know through my Blog (One Year Ago), how many people are actually following my little space.

A couple of month ago Leemei from My Cooking Hut asked me to be a guest blogger on her Blog, for sure some of you remember the dessert I created for Leemei (Engadiner Nut Tart). For this Anniversary post Leemei was kind enough to return me the favor to be part of this post with a review of my Blog. I am immensely thankful for her kind words and time she has found in her hectic schedule.

Leemei from My Cooking Hut:

Chris from Sugarhead has asked me to write a review of his blog. I have been thinking hard of what to include in this guest post, as it seems that there are many things that I want to cover.

Well, if you are not familiar whom I was referring to, it’s Chris the executive pastry chef that was featured on my blog before. He brought us a very nice looking and yummy dessert Engadiner Nut Tart.

Chris was born in Switzerland and currently residing in Dubai. He has worked in many other countries included Malaysia! I got to notice of his blog a while ago when I was surfing on foodgawker.

Chris is very passionate in food photography. There are lots of gorgeous pictures that blow my mind away. I can imagine that this is very closely related to his job as a pastry chef as he spends a lot of time working with food.

I have been really curious to know what a pastry chef’s life is like. Through Sugarhead, I get very overwhelmed withthe creativity found in a pastry chef. All the desserts are created with so much of attention to details! They look so pretty and how I wish I could take them off the screen and enjoy! Through all the beautiful photographs, they make me realise that endless possibility of creativity!

If you think that pastry chefs are only interested in making delicious desserts, then you are wrong! Well, at least, Chris seems to be a real expert in making desserts and main dishes. There are recipes on his blog that are so delicate and divine. I mean, you can tell that it’s a chef’s work! It’s different, ok! The way each dish is presented, somehow, has got a signature somewhere that tells me that it’s a work of a chef.

Through some of the posts, I get to see wonderful shots that Chris took when he travelled. I have no complaints with too many photos as they really open up my eyes to see and realise that there are so many beautiful things that I could possibly take note on if I make a trip to one of the destinations. The fact that Chris is currently living in Dubai, I definitely think you will get the best insight of ‘what to do’, ‘where to stay’ and ‘where to eat’!!

Well, I guess, being a chef, food is important overall. They don’t have to only look good but taste good. Chris has tried and visited a lot of restaurants that he has shared his experiences on this through his blog. Of course, they are accompanied with gorgeous photos of the dishes!

If you like sweet, beautiful and luxurious things, I would suggest you to bookmark Sugarhead. It is a great reference and I am very sure your eyes will be pleased with all the works that Chris has produced!

With over 10000 views above posting Luxemburgerli from Spruengli is the absolute winner since its posting on September 9th, 2008. I know that a lot of people search for Macaroon recipes and Luxemburgerli and perhaps land on my Blog but on the other hand above image is just pretty and colorful. Above sample was given to me by E, General Manager of Spruengli Middle East and since then we use them in one of our hotels restaurant. I can’t remember how many I have eaten since but they are absolute gorgeous!

With 8678 views, Mandarin-Laeckerli Puddingis the first runner up, posted on December 27th, 2008. I believe this due to the simplicity of the image but also of another typical Swiss cookie; Laeckerli. I actually made this posting due to a necessity; I had so much leftover cookies from Christmas I had to create a dessert and this was a all favorite one. Since then many viewers have copied the recipe and perhaps got the same result by serving this wonderful dessert made of real yummy Laeckerli.

With 6097 views, Madeleines where an instant hit when posted May 16th, 2008. There are hundreds of recipes and it seems to me that people are constantly on the search for the best Madeleine recipes.

This post with above picture was a real winner and a surprise for me; when posted on May 10th, 2008 it was viewed by 1906 hits within the day and climbed to over 5000 the next day. Later I found out some one placed my posting at TasteSpotting and somehow attracted a lot of viewers to my Blog.
