Every visitor coming out of Switzerland gets me some Rivella, if they don’t know my requirement I will make sure they know it the next time. Rivella is hardly available outside of Switzerland, it is such an obscure soft drink and an acquired taste only Swiss have, it seems. Though, I have seen Rivella in Singapore but only at Movenpick Marche.

My good friend, P from Zurich was on visit to Dubai and got me a couple of bottles. Needless to say during his stay we where not able to sample Rivella since Coronas where more appropriate during our nights out. Only on the very last night he parted finally from the bottles I was longing during his visit.

Rivella is a carbonated soft drink, created by Robert Barth in 1952, which is produced from whey (or milk plasma), and therefore includes ingredients such as lactose, lactic acid and minerals. An effervescent golden “champagne” color, Rivella is a healthy and natural soft drink from Switzerland. What’s unique about Rivella is the wholesome lactoserum it contains. This is the best of what milk has to offer: valuable minerals after lipids and protids have been removed (in short: milk less protein less fat). In addition, Rivella, contains no preservatives or artificial colors.

How I wished Rivella can deliver to anywhere in the world. I missed it so much :’-( If I want it badly I have to go to Luxembourg to get them arghhh! I can tell you even the Japanese version of Clapis lose out to Rivella. Just talking about it making my ears hearing the sizzling and bubbles bursting … and the taste and smell… mmm Guessed I just have to satisfy my pangs in my dreams :’-(
